In 1997, James Cameron released his biggest film to date. Before its release, the production of “Titanic” was consumed with horror stories of going over-budget and over-schedule and when Paramount Pictures pushed the release date of “Titanic” from Summer 1997 to Christmas 1997, many critics and pundits thought James Cameron had a flop on his hands. But Cameron proved them wrong, “Titanic” was a pop culture phenomenon and quickly became one of the highest grossing films of all-time.

Why did “Titanic” bring droves and drove of people to the movie theater? Why was the film so well received in spite of its faulty script? And did “Titanic” deserve to win Best Picture during the 70th Academy Awards?
